Imagine walking in the footsteps of trailblazers and explorers across a pristine landscape that looks much as it did 5,000 years ago. The crossing of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range offers towering canyon rims, ancient virgin forests, pristine lakes and creeks, waterfalls and hot springs, wildlife for which you are a curiosity and not a threat, and some of the best wilderness trout fishing in America.

Moon author Tom Stienstra will make a rare appearance to share his story of the 70-mile crossing from east to west, as the first pioneers would have seen it. The narrative, photography, and interaction will capture both the outdoors experience and the timeless feel in this epic landscape.

Stienstra is the author of Moon California Camping and Moon Northern California Hiking. He is a two-time national Outdoors Writer of the Year.
