Around Christmas of last year, I shared with you three U.S. travel secrets: how to gain access to The Magic Castle in Hollywood, how to enjoy free music at the French Quarter Festival in New Orleans, and how to seek your fortune at the Crater of Diamonds State Park in southwestern Arkansas. This three-part travel series was the result of a blogging challenge put forth by Katie Sorene of Tripbase, and luckily, I wasn't the only one to participate in this unique endeavor. What began with just one blog post in early November quickly spread across the Internet, and soon, roughly 200 bloggers had revealed their most closely guarded travel secrets, from TheWordWire's tip about the San Diego Zoo's Wild Animal Park in southern California to fellow Moon author Mindy Sink's three Colorado gems to Peter Greenberg's advice about shipping luggage in lieu of trusting the airlines.

Following the overwhelming response to this “travel secret” challenge, the folks at Tripbase were inspired to do something extraordinary with these diverse travel tips, compiling nearly 500 of them into a series of seven inspirational travel eBooks – creating the first collaborative project of its kind on the Internet. From bargain hotels to one-of-a-kind attractions, these tips have been organized into seven travel-related categories, including vacationing in the United States, traipsing across the globe, traveling with the family, exploring the world's cuisine, enjoying the world's beaches, getting to know the wondrous country of Italy, and learning some general travel advice, helpful for wherever you might be headed. Even better, this wealth of insider travel knowledge is available now – absolutely free of charge!

As a bonus, for every person that downloads a Travel Secrets eBook, Tripbase will make a $1 donation (up to $5,000) to the exceptional cause Charity: Water, an organization that helps to bring clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations. Please help the campaign target – to build four freshwater wells, which will provide clean water for an entire school for the next two decades – by downloading these seven eBooks today, and in the process, you'll have a cornucopia of useful information at your fingertips. And, of course, feel free to forward this download link to every passionate traveler you know. In addition, you can donate directly to the clean water campaign and, if you have your own blog or website, become a travel secrets author, too!

In the meantime, for more information about traveling in Los Angeles, New Orleans, and Arkansas, consult Liz Hamill Scott's Moon Southern California, Andrew Collins' Moon New Orleans, or the Arkansas Department of Parks & Tourism, respectively – and may you discover some precious travel secrets of your own!
