A Nostalgic Stroll Aboard the Keewatin Maritime Museum

Last weekend, my husband, Dan, and I ventured with another couple to Michigan's Art Coast in the southwestern part of the state's Lower Peninsula. Concentrated around the neighboring towns of Saugatuck and Douglas, this lovely resort area boasts a wide assortment of art galleries and antique shops – which indeed explains the longtime nickname as well as part of the reason for its popularity, especially during the summer months. more >>

Treasure Hunts on South Padre Island, Part 2

A few days ago, I told you about the first trip that my husband, Dan, and I made to South Padre Island, a curious barrier island at the southern tip of the Lone Star State. Since then, Dan and I have returned several times – both to visit our newfound friends and to explore the treasure-rich dunes and tidal flats north of town. As I mentioned two weeks ago, there's nothing quite like hunting for treasure, even seemingly worthless items like Petoskey stones along Lake Michigan's eastern shore or sand dollars beside the Gulf of Mexico.
