What happens when you pit four Cuba guides from Lonely Planet, Frommer’s, Rough Guides, and Moon (obviously our favorite) against each other? One guide always seems to outshine the rest.

After a rigorous round of comparison testing and assessments on important guidebook components, popular adventure travel site, Gadling let the cat out of the bag when it declared, “Moon [Cuba] is a sure thing.”

Other noteworthy things Gadling had to say about Moon Cuba:

• Author: There's really no doubt about the most experienced Cuba author in the bunch. Moon’s Christopher P. Baker has been traveling to Cuba for nearly 20 years—once by motorcycle. He's even met Fidel Castro.

• Accurate information: Moon Handbooks is chock full of accurate and insightful info. Spot-on addresses, up-to-date phone numbers, and exact hours of operation are all there.

• Online tools and information: Moon Cuba has the richest online resource, with information drawn from Baker's guidebook as well as a cool blog updated by Baker himself.

It’s clear that Moon Cuba passed Gadling ’s thorough examination with flying colors as it came out on top for having the most authoritative author, accurate information, and best online source. With Cuba gracing headlines these days, Moon has this hot spot—and others—covered.

For more on Baker, his background, and thoughts on Cuba, please check out his blog on moon.com as well as his website. And make sure to read Gadling ’s “Talking Travel” interview with Baker that was posted last week. Oh, and if you happen to be in the Pasadena area this Wednesday, April 29th, stop by Distant Lands at 7:30 p.m. for an engaging PowerPoint presentation of this fascinating island—Baker and Moon Cuba are sure to be crowd pleasers.

Viva la Cuba!
