For 30 years, Tom Stienstra’s full-time job has been to capture and communicate the outdoor experience. Tom writes a weekly outdoors column that is distributed across America. He has won more than 100 national and regional writing awards, and has twice been named National Outdoors Writer of the Year. His television show, The Great Outdoors, is broadcast weekly on CBS/CW. His first edition of Pacific Northwest Camping was acclaimed by the Portland Oregonian.

Tom takes part in all facets of the outdoors, and as a pilot and airplane owner, can cover great distances quickly in the pursuit of adventure. He lives with his wife Stephani at their ranch in the “State of Jefferson,” near the Oregon border.
