ABOUT THE AUTHOR KIM WEIR
Kim Weir is a California native, like her mother before her, with Southern California roots. Her grandfather was a citrus grower and her mother Harriet learned to drive a tractor at age 10. Sometime in the middle of World War II, Harriet drove off the ranch and on to UCLA in a battered old pickup truck her father had spruced up with leftover bathroom paint. Education, it turned out, would be the lasting family legacy of a life scented with orange blossoms.
Kim holds a B.A. in environmental studies and analysis from CSU Chico and is now pursuing her M.F.A. in Creative Writing. Her down-to-earth sense of adventure has come in handy over the years, and Kim’s own love of California, observation, and travel somehow led to travel writing and the first edition of Moon Handbooks Northern California in 1990. Other books soon followed, including Moon Handbooks to Monterey & Carmel, Southern California, Coastal California, and California.
Among other worthwhile pursuits, Kim has worked as an editor at Scholars Press and as the Communications Director for the Faculty Association of California Community Colleges (FACCC). She is also an active member of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW).
