The Palmer Open Air Market has local produce, food, crafts, and musical entertainment. It takes place across from the downtown visitors center Fridays 11 a.m.–6 p.m. May–August.
Klondike Mike’s Dance Hall & Saloon (820 S. Colony Way, 907/745-2676) has live rock and roll most nights in a rustic Alaskan setting. Also check the lineup at Vagabond Blues (642 S. Alaska St., 907/745-2233), which comes alive on weekends when singer-songwriter musicians pack the house.
Colony Days takes place the second weekend of June and includes a downtown parade, arts and crafts booths, bed races, foot races, and games. The main wintertime event is the Colony Christmas Celebration, with a lighted parade held on the second Friday and Saturday of December, along with reindeer sled rides, caroling, arts and crafts, visits with Santa, and fireworks.
