Cycle Alaska (907/321-2453, www.cycleak.com) rents quality mountain bikes and has a variety of trips, including fun “bike and brew” tours through Mendenhall Valley with a van ride to the Alaskan Brewing Co. for some sampling afterward. Owner John McConnochie is one of the most experienced cyclists in the area. Bikes are also available from Driftwood Lodge (435 W. Willoughby Ave., 907/586-2280 or 800/544-2239, www.driftwoodalaska.com).
Rock climbers will enjoy a visit to the Rock Dump (1310 Eastaugh Way, 907/586-4982, www.rockdump.com, day pass $13), an indoor climbing facility south of Juneau off Thane Road.
Golfers should head to Mendenhall Golf Course (907/789-1221), a nine-hole course near the airport, where $25 gets you the full package. It is not quite up to Arizona standards, but where else would you have a glacier backdrop?
