For something completely different, take the city bus to Anka Street in Lemon Creek and walk two blocks to Shaune Drive. Follow it a block to the Alaskan Brewing Company building (907/780-5866, www.alaskanbeer.com, tours every 30 minutes daily 11 a.m.–6p.m. May–Sept., Thurs.–Sun. 11a.m.–5 p.m. the rest of the year; free). You’re given a sample of various beers at the end of the tour.
The brewery has developed into one of the country’s finest, with its beers winning top prizes at national and international festivals. The brewery gift shop sells T-shirts, hats, and other items.
