Cozy family-run Residencial Anita (Lagos 476, tel. 03822/42-4836, US$20 s, US$31 d) is one of La Rioja’s best bargains.

Facing a narrow alleyway on downtown’s western edge, Hotel Savoy (San Nicolás de Bari 1100, tel. 03822/42-6894, hotelsavoy [at] arnet [dot] com [dot] ar, US$32–40 s, US$40–48 d, with a buffet breakfast) has rooms with cable TV and effective but aging and noisy air-
conditioning units. The cheaper downstairs rooms vary in size, so don’t hesitate to ask for a larger upstairs room.

As the once rundown Parque Yacampis, northwest of downtown, recovers some of its former luster, ACA’s adjacent rehabbed Motel Yacampis (Avenida Ramírez de Velasco s/n, tel. 03822/42-5216, US$34 s, US$53 d) has become a more attractive option.

One of the better values in its price range, King’s Hotel (Avenida Quiroga 1070, tel. 03822/42-2122, US$42 s, US$74 d, www.k-hotellarioja.com.ar) has tacky decor but also a large pool.

Its boxy interior limits its curb appeal, but Hotel Plaza (San Nicolás de Bari Oeste 502, tel. 03822/42-5215, www.plazahotel-larioja.com.ar, US$60–75 s, US$69–84 d) has comfortable midsized rooms with balconies. It also has a swimming pool and bar.

La Rioja finally has luxury hotel accommodations in the business-oriented high-rise Naindo Park Hotel (San Nicolás de Bari 475, tel. 03822/47-0700, www.naindoparkhotel.com, US$99 s, US$114 d), which opened in 2005. Just off Plaza 25 de Mayo, its 133 rooms are far superior to anything else in town, and it has held its prices fairly steady.
