Trip Ideas
Common-sense precautions can reduce the possibility of illness. Washing the hands frequently with soap and water and drinking only bottled, boiled, or carbonated water diminish the likelihood of contagion for short-term visitors—though Argentine tap water is potable almost everywhere.
Where purified water is impossible to obtain, such as backcountry streams where there may be livestock or problems with human waste, pass drinking water through a one-micron filter and purify it further with iodine drops or tablets (avoid prolonged consumption of iodine-purified water). Nonpasteurized dairy products, such as goat cheese, can be problematic and are best avoided.
