Locally produced items include knitted woolens and leatherwork, and children’s toys with penguin motifs, but many souvenirs are imported from the United Kingdom.
Stanley has a growing number of outlets, starting with books and maps at the Jetty Centre (Ross Rd. and Philomel St.). Directly opposite Whalebone Arch, the Boathouse Gallery (Ross Rd., tel. 21145, fax 22674) has a photo gallery, with landscape, wildlife, and underwater prints, and also sells local crafts and standard souvenirs.
Immediately west, the FIC’s Capstan Gift Shop (Ross Rd., tel. 27654) also carries local souvenirs and photographic equipment.
In new quarters, The Pink Shop & Gallery (John St., tel. 21399) has prints and crafts by local artists, as well as books and maps.
Studio 52 (Ross Rd. tel. 51552, www.studio52.co.fk), on Victory Green alongside Town Hall is a photo print gallery and souvenir shop.
