Three kilometers northeast of Cabo San Lucas off Mexico 1, the Mexican-owned Vagabundos del Mar RV Park (Km. 3, tel. 624/143-0290, www.vagabundosrv.com) has 52 slots with full hookups but no dump station. Rates are US$24 per day or US$140 per week, with a 10 percent discount for members of the Vagabundos del Mar travel club. The park is not on the beach; however, campers return year after year to enjoy the peaceful surroundings, comfortably away from the frenzy of activity in downtown Cabo San Lucas. There are four double-size pull-through spaces, and more than half of the spaces are designated annual rentals with palapas. Book early if you want to get a spot at this popular park. No caravans. Facilities include a restaurant, bar, flush toilets, palapas, showers, a pool, and new laundry machines.

In the same vicinity, the campground part of Club Cabo Hotel and Campground Resort (tel. 624/143-3348, www.clubcaboinn.com, US$16–19) has 10 sites for tent camping and another 10 for small RVs. Guests may use clean restrooms, hot showers, and a hot tub. There is a lounge area with hammocks, table tennis, a swimming pool, wireless Internet, and secure parking.

Villa Serena RV Park (Km. 7.5, toll-free U.S. tel. 888/522-2442, US$21/day, US$112/week, US$391/month) has 54 spaces with full hookups but no shade, as well as laundry, restrooms, and hot showers. In the adjacent palapa restaurant, a La Paz native serves delicious food (coconut shrimp, whole huachinango/red snappper) at reasonable prices (tel. 624/145-8244, 7 A.M.–10 P.M. daily, mains US$12–25). For primitive camping on the beach, you need to head out of town to the Pacific beaches along Mexico 19 or the Gulf coast along the East Cape.
