The legendary founder and namesake of this South Baltimore watering hole may have sailed for warmer shores (Florida), but his fine bar and tiny restaurant still thrives, discovered by a new generation of residents. One room is a cluttered, eclectic bar; the other is the dining room, where your entrée of choice is the crab-cake sandwich, served on a roll or with Saltine crackers.
A visit to this institution is a trip into the real South Baltimore, where pretension is forbidden and rooms filled with nautical memorabilia, random junk, and neon beer signs are celebrated.
