HOURS: Daily 6 p.m.-late

METRO: Guloudajie (Line 2)

Hard to find but worth the look, Amilal is nestled down narrow Shoubi Hutong, off the main East Gulou drag. The owner comes from Inner Mongolia, and has another venue called Aluss down the road.

Amilal is dedicated to whiskey in all its forms, especially Scotch. There’s also a list of imported Belgian, Dutch, and German beers to peruse, along with South American wine.

Amilal is small and intimate, with nooks and anterooms suffused with warm amber light. Black and white photographs adorn the walls, and secondhand furniture keeps things hip.
