Da Dong claims that its ducks are the leanest in Beijing, so if you’re watching your weight, this might be something to bear in mind. Ducks run a little more expensive than other places, but Da Dong’s award-winning status accounts for the discrepancy.
The 160-page menu is daunting, but apart from a foray into fried oysters, I recommend sticking to the kaoya (Beijing duck).
The interior decor is simple and contemporary, with bamboo accents and subtly decorated screens. Make sure you reserve a table, as Da Dong tends to fill up fast. And, if you’re tired of Beijing’s love affair with tobacco, this place is a good bet: Smoking is not permitted in the restaurant.
