This high-end boutique hotel on the South Bund opened in December 2010 and has already cemented its reputation as one of the best regarded hotels in Shanghai. Part of the Pier 16 (Shiliupu) development, the hotel offers some of the best views in the city, looking out over the Bund, the Old City, and the new Lujiazui skyline.
It has 184 rooms, including 23 suites, and each is decorated individually in a mix of contemporary and typically Chinese styles. There are quirky pieces of furniture, interesting ornaments, and tasteful murals throughout.
Dining options are the CHAR Bar and Grill and the QUAY all-day café. Don’t miss the beautiful swimming pool with its red mosaic tiles on the 7th floor.
