Whatever your stance on shanzhai (fake goods), you’ll find them in abundance here. Look away now if the thought of faux Vuitton and ersatz Gucci makes you cringe. Intellectual property laws go out the window at Fenshine.
However, if you’re on the hunt for some shanzhai designer goods, be prepared to haggle hard. Don’t accept a vendor’s first price: Offer 10 percent of the price and see what they say. If the vendor doesn’t budge, offer a third of the original price.
Beware: Stall holders here are known to be relentless. Hold your ground and don’t be intimidated, and that knock-off Mulberry Alexa will be yours.
There’s also plenty of gift-worthy chinoiserie, like silk dressing gowns, chopsticks, jade figurines, and other assorted knick-knacks.
