Oleander Cycles (15 Gorham Rd., tel. 441/295-0919, www.oleandercycles.bm, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. daily, closed Sun. in winter) is a first stop for visitors looking to hop on a rental scooter to tour the island. The business rents standard scooters or bigger, more powerful “deluxe” models, advised if carrying a passenger. Rates ($50 for one day, $212 per week, $16 per day after seven days) include scooter delivery and pickup (or hotel pickup), first tank of gas, helmet, lock, and basket, $25 third-party insurance, and islandwide roadside service for breakdowns.
Smatt’s Cycle Livery (74 Pitts Bay Rd., tel. 441/295-1180, fax 441/295-2539, smatts marketing [at] gmail [dot] com, www.smattscyclelivery.com, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. daily) is located directly outside the Fairmont Hamilton Princess Hotel. The outlet rents single-seat ($50 per day) and dual-seat ($55) scooters, as well as bicycles ($35), if you’re feeling energetic. Islandwide roadside assistance is part of the deal.
