With a spectacular view of the North Shore channel, Ocean View Golf Club (2 Barker’s Hill, tel. 441/295-9092, pro shop 441/295-9093, fax 441/295-9097, ovgc [at] bermudagolf [dot] bm, www.oceanview.bm) is one of three government-owned courses on the island, along with championship Port Royal and St. George’s Club.
Well maintained, the nine-hole course (with 18 tee positions for a double round) offers a leisurely though not challenging outing and is best suited to mid-handicappers. With a putting green, well-stocked pro shop, and a comfortable clubhouse with well-run bar and restaurant, plus a panoramic terrace, the club has benefited from many improvements over the past few years.
Pro shop hours are 7:30 a.m.–6:30 p.m. April–October and 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. November–March. the daily greens fee is $85, golf carts are $28 (18 holes), and club rentals are $35. The club offers reduced “sunset” fees after 3 p.m. For lessons with a pro, call tel. 441/295-9077. The dress code calls for collared shirts, Bermuda shorts or long trousers, and soft spikes.
