Bermuda lost its railway in the 1940s, but you will still see trains tootling around on the main roads. The Bermuda Train Company (6 Valley Rd., Paget, tel. 441/236-5972) uses colorful mini-trains, like large kids’ toys, to conduct tours around Hamilton and Dockyard in the summer. The hour-long trip from Front Street goes to Botanical Gardens and back for a fee of $30. Open-air carriages allow great sightseeing, but don’t believe all the tall tales spun by your tour guide; historic fact tends to fall completely by the wayside in the train tours I’ve experienced.
