Cinema

Owned by Hamilton’s Liberty Theatre group, Neptune Cinema (4 Maritime Ln., tel. 441/234-2923) is the West End’s only cinema; it usually gets movies after they have shown at the Liberty. Friendly staff sell popcorn and candy, but don’t expect IMAX-style professionalism here—sound and projection problems are often part of the experience.

Events

Destination Dockyard is the West End equivalent of Hamilton’s Harbour Nights, a Tuesday-night street-festival extravaganza of food, outdoor arts and crafts, and live entertainment. Ferries offer special service for the evening, and the Clocktower’s shops stay open, too. Dockyard Days (11 a.m.–5 p.m. Sun. year-round) is a festival of music, kid fun, and a market of food and fashions.

Nightlife

Islanders crowd into Hammerheads (Snorkel Park, 31 Maritime Ln., tel. 441/234-6989) for regular happy hours, beach parties, and themed special events throughout the summer months. Tuesday nights are the biggest draw, when Destination Dockyard brings scores of people to the West End. The bar is closed November–April.
