The Whaler Inn Tennis Club (Fairmont Southampton Resort, 101 South Shore Rd., tel. 441/239-6950, witc [at] logic [dot] bm, 8 a.m.–midnight) has six Plexi-pave hard courts, three lit for night play. Daily court rental for resort guests or any visitor to the island is $15, or $12 after noon; per-hour rental for locals is $20. Half-hour and hour-long lessons are also offered by three full-time pros. The club shop (8 a.m.–7 p.m. through the summer) stocks one of the island’s best selections of men’s and women’s Nike tennis gear, along with other select brands.
Four all-weather tennis courts are run by the Port Royal Tennis Club (5 Middle Rd., tel. 441/238-9430), which leases the facility from government. Located on the Port Royal Golf Club property, the courts are not pristine, but are safe and playable.
