Arraial do Cabo
Trip Ideas
Arraial do Cabo is only 6 kilometers (4 miles) south of Cabo Frio, but it is much less built up and more tranquil than either Cabo or Búzios to the south. Nonetheless, come summertime, its stunning white beaches and limpid blue waters draw their share of sand-and-sea worshippers.
Not only are the crystalline waters off Arraial considered a diver’s paradise, but Praia de Farol, on nearby Ilha de Cabo Frio, is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in all of Brazil.
Getting to Arraial do Cabo
There are numerous direct daily buses from Rio de Janeiro to Arraial operated by Viação 1001 (tel. 0300/313-1001, www.autoviacao1001.com.br). From Cabo Frio, buses leave every 20 minutes. For more information call the rodoviária (tel. 22/2622-1488).
