Downtown Kelowna has a great number of dining choices for everything from a quick coffee to a full meal, but many of the city’s finer restaurants are away from the business core, along quiet country roads or at the many golf clubs.
Cafe
Toward the lake, the Bohemian Cafe (524 Bernard Ave., 250/862-3517, Wed.–Fri. 7:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m., Sat. 8:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m., Sun. 8:30 a.m.–1 p.m., lunches $6.50–12.50) has a loyal local following for tasty cooked breakfasts and gourmet coffee.
Restaurants
RauDZ (1560 Water St., 250/868-8805, daily from 5 p.m., $13–29), in a restored downtown commercial building features elegant table settings, a martini bar, and comfortable sofas. The menu is typically west coast, but more adventurous than you’d expect this far from Vancouver, with an emphasis on Okanagan produce.
Bai Tong (upstairs at 1530 Water St., 250/763-8638, Mon.–Fri. 11:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. and 5–10 p.m., $9–16) is a step above your average small-town Asian restaurant. Feast on chicken cooked in a black bean sauce then wrapped in lettuce leaves or stir-fry combos of vegetables and noodles with your choice of meat. You’ll find Kelowna’s best Japanese food at Momo Sushi (377 Bernard Ave., 250/763-1030, Tues.–Sat. for lunch and dinner, Sun. dinner only, $12–17).
