All Penticton’s commercial campgrounds are south of downtown around the north end of Skaha Lake. They’re very popular in summer, so make reservations in advance if possible. The least-crowded seems to be Wright’s Beach Camp RV Park (4200 Skaha Lake Rd., 250/492-7120, www.wrightsbeachcamp.com, unserviced sites $40, hookups $48–53), which is a little bit surprising as it’s right on the lake and has a huge playground and an outdoor pool.
Across from Sudbury Beach and adjacent to Hwy. 97 is South Beach Gardens (3815 Skaha Lake Rd., 250/492-0628, www.southbeachgardens.net, May–Sept., $32–41).
If being by the lake isn’t important, choose to stay at Twin Lakes Golf & RV Resort (Hwy. 3A, 250/497-8379, www.twinlakesgolfresort.com, Apr.–mid-Oct., $32–37), 19 kilometers (12 miles) southwest of Penticton. The campground is set in the middle of a full-length golf course (greens fees $69, but discounted to $55 for campers), which is surrounded by barren cliffs. Amenities include modern washrooms, free firewood, a restaurant, and a lounge.
To get to Twin Lakes, head south from Penticton and turn west off Highway 97 at Kaleden. If you’re traveling east from Princeton, turn off Highway 3 at Keremeos.
