Whether you’re a vegetarian or not, you’ll find something delicious at the Sojourner Café (134 E. Canon Perdido St., 805/965-7922, www.sojournercafe.com, Mon.–Sat. 11 a.m.–11 p.m., Sun. 11 a.m.–10 p.m., $20). In fact, a select few dishes include a bit of lean poultry or fish in amongst the veggies.
Sojourner features healthful dishes made with ingredients that showcase local organic and sustainable farms. Lots of the cuisine has ethnic flavors, from familiar Mexico to exotic India. Daily specials use ingredients that are fresh and in-season, including some seafood.
Then again, Sojourner also serves a classic root beer float and chocolate milkshakes as well as a big selection of house-baked confections to go along with their health food. Sojourner displays the work of local artists on a rotating schedule.
