It takes something special to make Santa Barbara residents take notice of a seafood restaurant, and Brophy Brothers (119 Harbor Way, 805/966-4418, www.brophybros.com, Sun.–Thurs. 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Fri.–Sat. 11 a.m.–11 p.m., $10–30) has it. Look for a small list of fresh fish done up California style with upscale preparations. The delectable menu goes heavy on locally caught seafood.
At the clam bar, you can order some fresh raw clams (duh!) or oysters, a bowl of the house clam chowder, or a tasty seafood salad.
With a prime location looking out over the masts of the sailboats in the harbor, it’s no surprise that Brophy Brothers gets crowded at both lunch and dinnertime, especially on weekends in the summertime.
