The University of California at Santa Cruz (Bay St., 831/459-0111, www.ucsc.edu) might be the single most beautiful college campus in the country. Set up in the hills above downtown Santa Cruz, the classrooms and dorms sit underneath groves of coast redwood trees, amongst tangles of ferns and vines and cute woodland creatures.
Call 831/459-4118 for a tour of the campus (groups of six or more, reservations required). Or just find a parking lot and wander out into the woods like the students do, looking for a perfect circle of trees to sit and meditate within.
