Looking for an unpretentious taco? You can get one at the Catalina Cantina (313 Crescent Ave., 310/510-0100, $7–15) or its fast-food walk-up neighbor, the Topless Taco. Serving a mix of American diner (think burgers and fries, wings, and fish and chips) and Americanized Mexican staples (burritos, fajitas, combo plates), the Catalina Cantina offers tasty food for decent prices.
Better still, if you come in the evening, cool off with one of the Cantina’s buckets o’ liquor. Rum punch, margaritas, something called the Blue Shark, and more come in either normal human-sized glasses or in a 28-ounce bowl that they really hope you’ll share with friends!
