Originally a Greek import company in the 1960s, the Papa Cristos Taverna (2771 W. Pico Blvd., 323/737-2970, www.papacristo.com, Tues.–Sat. 9 a.m.–8 p.m., Sun. 9 a.m.–4 p.m., $10) restaurant opened in the 1990s. The import shop still supplies the local Greek community with hard-to-come-by delicacies, which also become ingredients in the cuisine at the Taverna.
Dishes are traditionally Greek, from the salads to the kebabs to the baba ghanouj. After you’re finished with your meal, wander the aisles of the store to pick up a few unusual Greek delicacies to take with you.
