Black’s Beach

Black’s Beach (south of Torrey Pines State Beach) sits north of downtown La Jolla, and this local’s favorite finds fame as a surf break; head for the south end of the two-mile beachfront to find the best surfing. But pause a second before grabbing your board and clambering down the cliffs: Black’s doubles as a well-known nude beach.
The main difficulty with Black’s Beach is getting there. As an unofficial beach without a permanent lifeguard station, you won’t find any parking lots; you’ll have to do the best you can on the street.
No well-built or easily climbed stairways lead down to Black’s, so you can either scramble down the cliff paths, or take your chances with the tides and enter from an adjacent beach to the north or south.
Finally, lifeguards are stationed here in the summer months only and the waters are unregulated, so be extremely careful of your fellow surfers and swimmers!
