Wine? In San Diego? Yes, indeed! It’s not Napa or Sonoma, but if you’re in California to sample all the best wine the state has to offer, don’t miss out on the terrific SoCal vintages available in the San Diego region.
The major wine-producing region of San Diego is the Temecula Valley. An hour north of San Diego proper, off I-15, this small, hot valley plays home to well over a dozen wineries. Most of the tasting rooms cluster along the main wine drag, Rancho California Road, but it’s also worth your time to explore farther into the valley for hidden gems off the beaten path.
