Bars and Clubs

Some folks are surprised at the smallish list of San Francisco clubs. The truth is, San Francisco just isn’t a see-and-be-seen, hip-new-club-every-week kind of town. In the City, you’ll find gay clubs, vintage dance clubs, goth clubs, and the occasional underground Burner rave mixed in with the more standard dance floor and DJ fare.

If you’re up for a full night of club-hopping and don’t want to deal with transit headaches, several bus services can ferry your party from club to club. Many of these offer VIP entrance to clubs, and will stop wherever you want to go. Think Escape (800/823-7249, www.thinkescape.com, $30/person minimum) has buses and limos with drivers and guides to get you to the hottest spots with ease.
