As you walk up to the magnificent Italianate tasting room at Trentadue (19170 Geyserville Ave., Geyserville, 707/433-3104, www.trentadue.com, daily 10 a.m.–5 p.m., $5), the first thing you’ll notice are the gardens sweeping out toward the vineyards. Many of Trentadue’s vintages get made from estate-grown grapes, and the gorgeous grounds surrounding the winery get used for weddings and events almost every weekend.

Inside the tall, narrow tasting room you’ll find European-style decor, the usual gifts (including bottled water and nonalcoholic drinks), and a sometimes-too-small-for-the-crowd tasting bar.

Trentadue offers a wide variety of still wines and a couple of sparklers. But the stars of Trentadue’s show are unquestionably the ports. Trentadue makes an array of different styles and flavors of the famed fortified dessert wines.

Any chocolate lover will need to take home a bottle of their Chocolate Amore. Trentadue offers a “port club” that sends members several bottles of different ports each year.
