For wine and kitsch, you can take a horse-drawn carriage tour of the Russian River Valley, stopping to taste wine along the way. The Flying Horse Carriage Company (707/849-8989, www.flyinghorse.org, $145) will take you off the paved roads and out into the vineyards of the Alexander Valley region. Here you’ll get to see the wine grapes growing right in front of you as you slow down to really enjoy the sights and scenery of the Wine Country.
Enjoy a picnic lunch (complete with dessert) in between stops at various tasting rooms to sample the local wines. Your tour starts at 12:30 p.m. and lasts four hours. This is an especially romantic pick for couples celebrating an anniversary or birthday.
