If you prefer walking to all that sliding around on planks, rent or bring your own snowshoes to Mammoth and enjoy a snowy hike through the mountains and meadows. Check the cross-country ski areas first—many have specifically designated snowshoe trails.
Or head out to the backcountry and explore Mammoth Lakes Basin or the Sherwin Range. Groomed trails head off from right behind the Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center.
