Nightlife

Everyone knows about Cancún’s carousing nightclub scene, and for good reason: It’s the best in the Yucatán Peninsula, bar none. But Cancún’s nightlife is much more than Girls Gone Wild. The city boasts a rich collection of bars, live music, dance, theater, movies, and more, all within easy reach.

But first things first: Most of Cancún’s biggest, most popular nightclubs are near the Forum by the Sea mall in the Zona Hotelera, with a few a bit farther afield. Each club has a different “on” night—Monday is Dady-O, Tuesday is Fat Tuesday, etc. These don’t seem to change much, but definitely ask around before buying tickets. The dress code is casual, but don’t wear flip-flops or bathing suits (unless, of course, it’s Speedo Night).

Some hotels organize clubbing trips—this may seem lame, but it can mean priority admission, reserved tables inside, and a shuttle there (but typically not back). And the organizers head to the same nightly hot spots you’re probably looking for anyway.

Downtown venues are definitely on the quieter side, lacking the bells and whistles you’ll find in the Zona Hotelera.
