In a former life, the Hotel Chichén Itzá (Calle 15 s/n, tel. 985/851-0022, US$74–111 s/d with a/c) was the Hotel Misión Chichén, before being bought and renovated by the hotel/tour conglomerate Mayaland. When we passed through it was in the midst of being remodeled (again) and acquired (again), this time by the Best Western chain hotel. Regardless of who owns it when you’re in town, it is definitely the nicest hotel in Pisté proper. All rooms have simple Mexican decor, comfortable furnishings, and large modern bathrooms; the least expensive rooms face the street and can be noisy, while the top ones are larger and overlook the hotel’s attractive garden and pool area. There’s also a cavernous restaurant (7 a.m.–10 p.m. daily) that’s often packed with tour groups.
