Río Lagartos and San Felipe
A little more than 100 kilometers (62 miles) north of Valladolid, on the northernmost point of the Yucatán Peninsula, Río Lagartos is justly famous for the huge colonies of flamingos that nest and feed here.
Nearby San Felipe is a much more pleasant place to spend an afternoon or night, and it’s still convenient to the flamingo tours from Río Lagartos. If you have a car, consider staying in San Felipe and driving into Río Lagartos for a flamingo tour.
