As one of America’s key national and international destination cities, Charleston has a very well-developed infrastructure for housing visitors—a task made much easier by the city’s longstanding tradition of hospitality.
Because the bar is set so high, few visitors experience a truly bad stay in town. Hotels and bed-and-breakfasts are generally well maintained and have a high level of service, ranging from very good to excellent. There’s a 12.5 percent tax on hotel rooms in Charleston.
