With an Art Deco–style vibe that’s a refreshing change from the usual Charleston restaurant decor, Tristan (55 Market St., 843/534-2155, www.tristandining.com, Mon.–Thurs. 11:30 a.m.–10 p.m., Fri.–Sat. 11:30 a.m.–11 p.m., Sun. 11 a.m.–10 p.m., $18–32) inside the French Quarter Inn draws raves for its globally influenced cuisine.
At last count, the copious wine list boasted over 400 labels. The real scene here is for the à la carte Sunday brunch, with crab cake benedicts, corned beef hash, frittatas, live jazz, and Bloody Marys galore. Save room for the ridiculously good fried chocolate doughnut dessert.
