Memorial Garden has been called “one of North Carolina’s hidden treasures.” The three-acre garden is in the heart of historic downtown Concord and is bursting with color. More than 14,000 tulip bulbs are planted in the fall and come into bloom in April.
The garden dates back to 1804, when the First Presbyterian Church purchased the land for its first sanctuary, and is part of a 200-year-old cemetery. It’s been restored to include waterfalls and reflecting pools. The gardens are filled with ancient oaks, multi-trunked Japanese maples, azaleas, and flowering cherry trees.
