Since there are only two airports in Chiapas with regular commercial service—Tuxtla and Tapachula—there isn’t much in-state air travel. Factor in the check-in process, security, and baggage claim, not to mention having to fly through Mexico City to get to either place, and it doesn’t make much sense travel-wise.
If your time is tight and your budget can handle it, Servicios Aéreos San Cristóbal (Aérodromo Miguel Alemán, Carr. Comitán–Trinitaria Km. 1262, tel. 963/632-4662, toll-free Mex. tel. 800/523-4954, www.serviciosaereossancristobal.com) regularly flies passengers to Palenque, Ocosingo, and Comitán; trips to other parts of the state also can be arranged.
