Parque Marimba

Just 15 minutes by foot from the central plaza, Parque Marimba (Av. Central Pte. btwn. 8 and 9 Calle Pte.) is cool and quiet during the day, and is a great place to enjoy live music (marimba mostly, of course) at night. Shade trees and walkways encircle the park’s ornate kiosk, which has a small snack shop in one corner.

The kiosk doubles as a bandstand in the evenings, and the park’s benches—several deep in places—fill up with locals of all ages, from old-timers to families with young kids. It’s a lively, cheerful atmosphere, and tourists are always welcome.

The music typically starts at 6 p.m. and continues until 9 p.m. on weekdays, and until 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
