East of Quillota and north of metropolitan Santiago, but politically part of Region V, the Río Aconcagua’s main attraction is the legendary ski resort of Portillo, near the Argentine border.
The lower part of the valley, though, is home to colonial towns with a growing wine industry and its own nascent Ruta del Vino.
