Accommodations and Food
Trip Ideas
San Felipe is short on accommodations; the cheapest are also the best, starting with cheerful Hotel Residencial Aldo’s (Salinas 67, tel. 034/534943, US$9 pp), which also has parking. Friendly Hotel Reinares (Carlos Condell 75, tel./fax 034/510359, US$9–12 pp) has both utilitarian rooms with shared bath and slightly better ones with private bath, as well as a large and popular restaurant.
Half a block east of the Plaza de Armas, the Club Arabe (Prat 124, tel. 034/510212) serves standard Chilean fare plus Middle Eastern dishes, such as stuffed grape leaves, in the US$6 range. In the historic Casona Mardones, the Club Social San Felipe (Av. Yungay 10, tel. 034/510402) is the traditional night-out choice.
