Camping
Trip Ideas
At the eastern approach to town, flanking Arroyo Calafate, the fenced and forested Camping Municipal (José Pantín s/n, tel. 02902/492622, campingmunicipal [at] cotecal [dot] com [dot] ar, US$2 pp) closed during the 2006 season because of a contractual dispute, but it should reopen. It has good common toilets and hot showers, and each site has its own fire pit; areas east of the creek are for walk-in campers only.
On the grounds of its namesake hospedaje, Camping Jorgito (Moyano 943, tel. 02902/491323, US$2.50 pp) is decent enough. Camping Los Dos Pinos (9 de Julio 218, tel. 02902/491271, losdospinos [at] cotecal [dot] com [dot] ar, US$3 pp plus US$1.75 per car) has improved and expanded facilities.
