About 15 kilometers northwest of Puerto Natales via a gravel road, sheltered Puerto Prat is the nearest thing to a beach getaway that Natalinos have—on rare hot days, its shallow waters warm up enough to let the intrepid dip their toes into the sea. It’s also the paddling point for one-day sea kayak trips to Fiordo Eberhard (US$120 pp); for details, contact Big Foot Adventure Patagonia in Natales.
A short distance north, settled by Captain Hermann Eberhard, Estancia Puerto Consuelo was the area’s first sheep farm. It’s open to the public, but usually only those on horseback excursions.
