From the Bahamas: As of 2008, Bahamasair (tel. 242/377-5505, http://up.bahamasair.com) has Nassau–Havana flights (Tues., Thurs., and Sun. at 12:45 p.m., US$329 round-trip); you cannot book via the website. A Cubana charter flight operates to Havana from Nassau (Mon.–Sat. 2:30 p.m., US$329 round-trip, plus US$15 visa and US$7 ticket tax). Book through Havanatur (East Bay Shopping Centre, East Bay St., Nassau, tel. 242/393-5281, www.havanaturbahamas.com) or Majestic Travel (tel. 242/328-0908). Neither accepts credit card reservations; you’ll have to pay through a Western Union wire transfer or by certified check, which has to be mailed. You can pick up your ticket in Nassau or have it delivered to the airport for pickup. Midweek, it’s often possible to purchase a ticket at the counter two hours before departure time. Returning from Cuba, you pass through U.S. Immigration and Customs here; officials are wise to the arrival of flights from Havana.
From the Cayman Islands: Havana is served three times weekly by Cayman Airways (tel. 345/949-8200, www.caymanairways.com) from Grand Cayman (from US$217 round-trip).
From the Dominican Republic and Haiti: Panama’s Copa (www.copaair.com) flies between Santo Domingo and Havana via Panama City four times daily (from US$284 round-trip). Cubana (Av. Tiradentes y 27 de Febrero, Santo Domingo, tel. 809/227-2040, cubana.aviacion [at] codetel [dot] net [dot] do) serves Havana from Santo Domingo on Thursday and Sunday (from US$395 round-trip). Cuba’s Aero Caribbean (www.aerocaribbean.cu) supposedly flies on Friday and Sunday between Santo Domingo and Santiago de Cuba (US$510 round-trip).
From Jamaica: Troubled Air Jamaica (tel. 800/523-5585 in North America, tel. 888/359-2478 in Jamaica, www.airjamaica.com) flies thrice weekly from Montego Bay and Kingston to Havana (from US$420 round-trip). U.S. travelers cannot book a Cuba leg via Air Jamaica’s website; you must call Jamaica directly and pay for the Jamaica–Cuba leg upon arrival in Jamaica. The airline has a reputation for losing luggage. Caribic Vacations (tel. 876/953-9895, www.caribicvacations.com), Tropical Tours (tel. 876/953-9100, www.tropicaltours ja.com), and Marzouca Marketing & Sales (tel. 876/971-3859, www.cubaonweb.com) offer charter flights and package excursions from Montego Bay to Havana.
